A Summery, Glam Colour Palette (Ask oh perfect day)

Real bride Sarah contacted us recently and asked us to solve her colour palette dilemma.  Sarah loves deep shades of blue but is getting married in a contemporary beachside venue in January and wants to make sure her colours aren't too dark for the season.  She also wants a palette with sophistication and elegance, but not something too drab.

A really important rule to remember when it comes to colour is that there are no rules.  In fact, at Oh Perfect Day, we are absolutely 100% against following rules that feel restrictive to you or like they just don't fit.   Any colour can work in any season and for any style of wedding.  Remember that colour isn't your only style element - decor, furniture and details will help to dictate the feel of your day.

Sarah, we think we have come up with a pretty killer colour palette  that will be perfect for your big day.  It incorporates deep, rich navy blue (for sophistication and classic elegance), creamy whites (for a contemporary, clean feel) and pops of gorgeous, vibrant pink (for a bit of summer fun) and a splash of silver for a bit of glam.   We hope you love it!

It seems that colour palettes are one of the most daunting and challenging areas for brides when it comes to styling and planning their day.  Brides have told us that trying to select colours that complement  their venue, personal style,  the season - not to mention colours that work with each other - is so overwhelming that they have given up and chosen to go with creams and neutrals.

Don't get us wrong, we ADORE neutrals and creams.  But, if you're the kind of bride who loves a bit of colour, then don't give up and opt for neutrals if it doesn't feel perfect for you.

The most important area to think about when it comes to your colour palette is your venue.  If you're currently on the hunt for a venue, remember that the more blank or natural your canvas is, the more flexibility you have with everything from colour palettes through to lighting and furniture.
